what's a holiday..?

What's a holiday?
I: a time spent away from home for rest or enjoyment.
II: a day when most people do not have to work.

The last time i had no I was maybe in 2003.
II Public Holiday.. Since i've got 4 kids. never had a chance to rest. Always took the off day to spring clean the house.

I wish i could have no I more!

Does going for a holiday overseas considered a holiday (I)?
it was never 'for a rest' for me. we'll be on foot most of the time - sightseeing. from sunrise till sunset.

My last overseas holiday was to Bali in 2004 (no kids) & Perth (2005) with the whole big family.

2008 - cuti cuti Malaysia.

So anyways, will be going a 'holiday' on this 25th Dec - 1st Jan 09. Just me and my sis and her friend. No children.

Part of me feels guilty to leave The Fantastic Four for 5 days. Part of me says "Heck. take some time off away from my routine life".
"Take a break from the Four".
"Bila lagi nak pergi?"
if i were to wait till we can afford to bring everybody (2 adults + 4 kids) .. don't know when will that be. (hey, i'm being realistic here).

Heck, i deserve this trip. Been a mother for 8 years. Mother of 4 for almost 2 years. Been working hard to support them too.. it's time to take a break from the cries, and shouts, and the pooh, but i'll sure miss the laughter..

So my friends, I'll be in Dubai & Cairo next week ;D

Back to School shopping list

Took the day off on Wednesday and had a fun day out with the kids..

Took Umar for his '18 mths old' jab.

Took Aisha for a haircut.

Got school uniforms for Aisha who will be in Std One next year. 1 pinafore & 2 baju kurungs.

Got Medina 2 more uniform baju kurungs cos she likes to wear baju kurung not pinafore.

Got socks for all 3.

Tupperwear transformers & Ben10 pencil case for Moehammad.

High School Musical pencil case for Medina.

Barbie pencil case for Aisha.

Colour pencils for all 3.

2 boxes of 2B pencils & erasers for all 3.

Metrojaya was having this offer that each RM100 spent, get a school bag free!! (offers valid when you shop from 1 Dec - 4 Dec). Managed to get 2!! and it came in pink & purple, pink & cream. School bag settled.

Went to the school book shop just now during lunch. Got all on Std One & Std Two book list.

All in all, spent round RM330-00.

Having many kids ain't cheap!!

So now i can rest and relax till the new term starts. All left is to iron the badges on the uniforms and wrap their books.. and name writing on each one of 'em.

Should i just get rubber stamps for both their names?? or have their name printed on stickers.. ??

This is a special hybrid orchid which my mum had it for 3 years. From a single leaf, it grew to this big!

with lots of TLC it finally bloomed!! and it really made my mum a very happy woman.

Kids say the darnest things - Part II

Ummi : Arabic word for Mother.
Wallid/ Wallidun: Arabic word for Uncle.
That's what the kids call my Sister & bro-in-Law.

My sister called on saturday from the wholly land of Madinah to update us on their Haj trip. Alhamdullillah she managed to solat di Raudhah 2 times.. they're leaving for Mekkah that very evening for their Umrah, and to wait for Hari Wukuf in 2 weeks.

As usual i will update the rest of the family including my daughter Medina. She has good knowledge of Madinah (where she was named after) and the history of Nabi Muhammad saw, A'isha his wife, and Umar Al-Khattab his best friend.. and how her siblings got their names from and how they are related with each other.

Later that day, i heard her talking to her cousin Redhuan, 6 yrs old.

something happened to me this morning which never happened before in my 14 years of refueling the car..

got in the car this morning fuel tank indicated EMPTY! normal for a Monday morning..

stopped by Shell, where i always get my petrol and its the only station that i can collect Bonus Link points.. sucker right.. anyway, that's not the point. So i paid RM50 to get a full tank.. when the petrol was 2.70 p/ltr, RM50 doesn't go very far. Am i missing out on the fuel market cos the last time i checked, petrol now cost rm2.15, correct?

ok, when you are refueling, while holding the nozzle in one hand, where do you usually look? No 1 answer usually the meter counter right? 2nd probably the car next to you (or could be the hot looking driver..) 3rd? do you ever look at the nozzle? anyway, my story today is that my tank was overflowed with petrol..!!! it was pouring out from the tank.. kena kasut sikit. Tapi tengok meter it was still RM48++

i don't usually put the clip and let it fill itself. got an email when the petrol was rm2.70 saying that you'll get more petrol if you fill it slowly and not putting the clip on the nozzle.. been practising that since. tunggu lama tunggulah..asalkan dapat lebih.. (there's kiasu attitude in all of us right..).

back to my story.. panicked strike.. oh no!! there's petrol on my car flowing down to the wheels.. will it get on fire? i know any form of sparks will trigger it. Maklumlah..org perempuan..mana tahu sangat bab keta ni. but i got the attendant to pour water over it. will it work?

thanks to my friend who asked her 'Guys'.. the car won't get on fire because the minyak cepat kering.. they better be right! cos if the car do get on fire while i'm in it, this would be my last testimonial.. and you can tell my family what happened to me earlier this morning.

A Parent's Proud Moment - Part II

What could be a prouder moment for both my parents..

Last night her eldest child and son-in-law left for the Holy Land to perform their Haj.

My sister, Shahdee bte Ahmad 37 and husband Abg Anis Yusal Yusoff left for Madinah Al Munawarrah on flight KT42, they're one of those chosen ones to be the guest of the Almighty.

My Kak Long (known as Non) is one fantastic lady, a MBA holder and the Deputy GM with Propel and of course Abg Anis, currently pursuing his Phd, is one fantastic guy..!! they are idols in our family.. they are both living example of "Soul-Mates".

She's the one we turned to when we have problems.
She's the shoulder we cry on when we're feeling down.
She's the cement that glues us all together.
She has the solution to most of our problems.
She's the most successful.
She's the most kind, loving intelligent person.
She's the most generous.
She's my Sister
.. and we're missing her already ; (

All of us are very proud of both of you Kak & Abg Anis. We pray for your safe journey, health and Haji yang Mambrur..
