6 hari lagi Hari Raya..!!

To be honest, i don't really look forward to Hari Raya.
I love Ramadhan. I could feel the extra closeness with God. Sebab ibadah puasa ini adalah semata-mata untuk Dia.

Tinggal 6 hari je lagi... sedih.

The only thing that i'll be celebrating this Raya is the eldest of the Fantastic Four:

First time berpuasa and as at today, she only missed 3 days.

And as at today, 24th day of Ramadhan, she's able to solat 5 times a day all by herself. At first, dengan Imam (either me or daddy). But now she offers to pray on her own. Perfect recital. Even the Doa's after Solat pun dah pandai. Now she calls me up at work just to ask me whether i've done my Zohor prayers and Asar.

Last night she told her parents that "only 1 surah left dalam Muqaddam nak sampai Al-Quran". It was a proud moment for both parents. Ayatul Kursi & Surah Al Asri is one of her favorites.

At this stage, whatever we teach she absorbs like a sponge & thank God one of The Painters of this once a white cloth, has taken kursus Batik before in Kelantan. I think we are on the right track in producing a beautiful top quality silk cloth. The rest of the Fantastic Four will be a different challenge for both of us.

I'm gratefull to all my family members for their support, help and advice. Also to Kak Noris & Pn Nabilah for introducing the Iqra' to them. And to Mum for taking over where they left off.

To all parents out there, say "Robbil habli minosollihin" after every Solat & every Doa. Insya'allah..

p/s: on the right hand side of this post i'd like to share a Zikir/ Selawat by Munif Ahmad. Our loyal companion during sahur. It's played on Ch 106 Astor Oasis before and after azan Subuh. A favorite among Medina and Umar who never fails to bersahur di bulan yang mulia ini.

Selamat Menyambut Aidil Fitr. Semoga ibadah kita semua diterima Allah swt.

What's trip to Lumut without a stop at Ah Choon's??

What's a visit to Ah Choon without having his Sotong Goreng..?
Famously known as Sotong Goreng Ah Choon.

Ah Choon, still looks very live and kicking..!!

Story:

I lived in Lumut for a good 6 years (19984-1990). Banglo 15 Pangkalan TLDM Lumut. My Dad build the RMN Yacht Club as in the picture frame on the wall in the background. This guy here was the guy who runs the restaurant. A terrific Chef i must say. I use to dig for Lala in the sand on the beach while my dad and sis were busy sailing. After a bucket full of Lalas.. i would bring it to Ah Choon's kitchen and he would cook it for me.. He basically took care of my meals and drinks until my sister and Dad were done.

And his Sotong goreng tepung was, and still is, a benchmark for all the sotong goreng in the world!!

Now that the yatch club no longer exist, Ah Choon now runs a restaurant in Manjung. Every trip to Lumut from then on, would not be complete if we don't stop by his place. Even now after 18 years, Ah Choon still remembers me and my family and i can see by the big black & white picture of the Yacht Club hanging in his restaurant, the Yacht Club is still close to his heart.. and ours too... and i'm sure to every Navy kids from that era.

Girl: "Hey Good Looking.. what's your name? want my number?"

Boy: "The name's Umar. No i don't want your number. What else do you have there?"

waterfalls are fun. for all ages..

After 4 years having Langat, we finally manage to set foot at the Sg Gabai waterfalls. Good exposure to the Mother Nature for the kids. Its just that, they are spoiled with hot water, my Fantastic 3 couldn't handle the cold water. They suffered from running nose and fever the whole week after that. Luckily it was the school holidays.

It was a really really long climb to get to the top. Was surprised that these 5 pairs of tiny legs managed the climb.

And this guy is a hero. At first the slippery rocks scared the hell out of him, but after a while, He enjoyed the nature with his gifted imagination and exploration skills. I wouldn't worry if got stranded on an island or in a forest somewhere. My guy here is a survivor.

rotating wardrobes

i would go through my kid's wardrobe every 3-6 months to separate the ones they have outgrown out of it. Kakak's clothes will be transferred to the below drawer which is Aisha's and Aisha's clothes will be kept in a special bag which goes to the upper cupboard in the master bedroom. It will be kept there until the next recipient is back in town, she's no other than Nur Safeia. Aisha is very lucky to get pass-downs from 2 people.. Adek & Kakak (For those who wonders who Adek is, she is Aisha's 4 yr old cousin who weights more than Kakak).

Moehammad's clothes will also be kept on the upper cupboard until Umar is big enough to wear them. Maybe in 1 years time. That's the usual rotation. He also gets pass downs from Red Ranger. His 6 yr old cousin.

The saddest part was when i had to keep Umar's baby's clothes :(
My baby has grown.. He once fit into these tiny winnie clothes and look how big he is now. Some of it belongs to Aisha when she was a baby. There's a big bag of baby's clothes in my upper cupboard. It was a sad moment for me.. and i told myself, we'll give it to the next baby in the family..

And guess what..?? today i got a news that Yummy Mummy is going to be a Mummy again...!!
Congratulations dear.. (wonder if he/she was made in Nice..??) There's 2 big bags in my cupboard that have your name on it.

Malaysia Kita

A start of a possible new beginning.

So i applied for a Government post few months ago. And finally i got an invite to sit for the SPA exam. The 1st stage of the recruitment process. Pass this stage then only they'll call for an interview.

Why i applied for a Government post? Where all this while i sort of condemn them..?

Reasons:
  1. Actually aimed for the PTD Pegawai Tadbir Diplomatik post. Hopefully i get to be posted somewhere around the world. Sebab tak tahan dgn cuaca panas di negara ini.
  2. A good career change and experience.
  3. Free medicals. Trust me, 4 kids, medical bills not cheap.
  4. Pension scheme after retirement.
  5. Hopefully i get to change the whole Government servant's mindset, and not be like one of them.

Haven't sat for an exam in a really really long time. I was told to read this book. Title dia pun kata "Panduan dan Rujukan Untuk Peperikasaan Kerajaan".

Now i know more on Malaysia than i've ever known before.
Now i know how the "demokrasi sistem" works. Now i know more about the Parliament and the Federal Government!

Now i understand why Wan Azizah vacated her parliamentary seat to give way for her Husband for his quest to become the next Prime Minister.

Before this i just skipped the political pages in the newspapers.

Well, the exam is tomorrow. Wish me luck!
